Notes:

The basic process is based on TNC’s 5-S. The 5-S’s are the steps that any group can use to analyze and develop their conservation project.

The thing that is nifty about PCP is the way in which its designers have created a facilitated process that utilizes the strengths and varied knowledge base one is apt to see in any community. Complicated ecological concepts are approached in ways that non-biologists can understand without feeling patronized. Systems are treated as places people live in and know, so that they can contribute information based on their personal or professional experience. There are times when each person may be a teacher or student, and everyone’s particular contribution is used. The tools and techniques used to do all of this are really simple and subtle, which makes the process easy.
