Notes:

As our population grows and as conservation becomes more mainstream, any of us working to preserve natural areas will increasingly find that we just can’t avoid dealing with humans and all their messy issues. By their interest, opposition, or mere presence, human communities are going to have an ever greater impact on conservation work, So, how can we stay effective in this changing arena?

We propose that one way to deal with human influence is to embrace and engage stakeholders in conservation from the very beginning. This is not a novel idea, lots of folks talk about it, or at least pay lip service to it. But fewer folks are talking about how to actually do it. That’s what we’ll do today.
